Situated on the Northern coast of France, Normandy is an historic region, famed as a national and international visitor destination. Most popular are the coastal towns which in the past were the favoured holiday resorts of the French nobility and they certainly retain that aged elegance, sophistication and charm in the buildings and the appeal of the beaches and attractions.

One such Normandy town, Deauville, is popular for family holidays by the sea but it is also synonymous in France with horseracing.

The surrounding area is home to many stud farms and trainers of international standing as well as the incredible number and variety of Deauville races.

Deauville is twinned with Kildare in Ireland and Lexington, Kentucky which gives some idea of the status of Deauville races and the commitment to excellence in breeding and training horses in the area.

The highlight for those in the market to buy horses is the annual auction in the town for the best yearlings.

Those who simply love the thrill and fun of superb racing on the other hand, are truly spoiled for choice.

The perfect environment for classic horseracing, Deauville is not just a town with a racecourse but revels in the deep culture, history and spectacle of the sport with two first class horseracing venues in which to enjoy the very best Deauville races.

The first of these is Deauville-La Touques Racecourse which has hosted thoroughbred racing since 1882.

Famed for its summer racing, the highlights of the season are four Grade I Classics which draw great crowds comprised of keen racegoers from far and wide and those who wish to incorporate some world class racing and hospitality into their summer holidays in the area.

Winter racing has recently been introduced too employing the latest technology in an all-weather track. Not only does this allow all year racing at Deauville-La Touques but also increases the number of summer fixtures, some of which can be hosted on the new surface to save the turf track.
